Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body is attacking itself. In this case, the body is destroying its own beta cells, which are the cells that help produce insulin. It usually develops in younger people, usually under the age of 15 or 20. You can’t give yourself type 1 diabetes, and you can’t do anything to avoid getting it.

People can increase their chances of developing type 2 by not exercising, having bad eating habits, or taking certain prescription medications like the steroid Prednisone for long periods of time. Untreated pancreatitis can also increase the chances of developing type 2, and in some cases, directly cause its onset.

There’s a theory floating around that giving yourself just a little bit of insulin everyday for a long period of time can cause your body to slowly stop producing its own and become dependent on the outside source. This could cause diabetes, but it’s only an idea as far as I know. No one in their right mind would be dumb enough to test it because too much insulin is dangerous, low blood sugar sucks, and there’s no guide as to the "safe" level for outside insulin in non diabetics.

The root cause? Poor parenting skills. Letting kids choose to eat bad food, or even choosing it for them. Not instilling good eating habits and good food choices from day one into the child. This is aided by a plethora of advertising aimed at children (sugary, fried and fast food) with toy and movie tie-ins.
The results? A lifetime of being overweight, unhealthy and discriminated against.

It’s just sweet, it has not side-effects. Unless typical sweet beverages like soda cause you to be ill.

Type 2 can be treated with proper diet, medication, and exercise, because your body produces some insulin.

Type 1 can only be treated with insulin injections because your pancreas does not produce any insulin at all. ————————

Water is good for us all, but it can’t cure everything!

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And in this situation, I’d say it definitely is bogus.

It’s always a good idea to drink water though!

Babe!! I sympathize with you. Can you adjust your basal insulin to less than you are taking? That is what is causing me to gain weight and hold it on. The bolus insulins to cover meals don’t have that exact effect. they just cause Hypos occasionally.

I was not unhealthy nor exactly elderly when diagnosed with diabetes type 2!!! I am a dietician and always thought I was eating healthy!! Come to find out most of what I was taught in school is not true!!! I am also a very active rancher working with animals and the land on a daily basis. Not a couch potato by any means. And by not elderly, yes, I am a grandmother, but i was 50 at diagnosis.

If you eat on the low carb food plan you can possibly lose some excess poundage and inches. A friend of mine type 1 since she was 14, eats no more than 30 to 35 grams of carb per meal. She gains weight when she eats over that amount. So she keeps to the very low carb plans as I do.

To answer the question of crack_mle, it has already been approved by the FDA and released in the market. In fact, if I am not mistaken, the pharmaceutical company that carries this drug is Pfiser.

Short term only and quick acting.
Usually taken 15-30 mins before a meal.
Given in addition to long acting Insulin

My opinion, works but only replaces the short rapid insulins taken before a meal.

I’m not sure what machine your talking about. A blood Glucose Monitor is the thing you check your Blood Sugar on and would not affect your prostate. It just checks your sugar level in the blood. An insulin pump giver you small amounts of insulin throughout the day instead of a shot that would give you a large amount all at once and also would not affect the prostate. Really without more info on what machine it will be hard for you to get any answer.

Well, some symptoms are the same – like being thirsty and needing to pee a lot, although this tends to happen later in the pregnancy because the baby is pressing on the bladder. Fainting is also a sign of both.

However, there are also a lot of symptoms that don’t overlap and I personally haven’t heard of anyone thinking they were one and found they were the other. Your best bet is to take a pregnancy test and if it comes out negative go and see your GP, who will do a blood test and then you can get a definitive answer one way or the other.
