Herbal Treatment For Diabetes: Higher Than Insulin?

It is another case of a home remedy waiting to be discovered. A new study suggests that a ancient Indian diabetes herb treatment lowers blood sugar and insulin levels with today’s prescription drugs.

thirty-nine healthy adults received extracts of the herb Salacia oblonga with promising results. Insulin and blood glucose levels were lowered by a most of 29 and 23 percent, respectively. These reductions occurred when check subjects received the biggest dose of the herb extract (1,000 mg).

“These sorts of reductions are just like what we would possibly see with prescription oral medications for people with diabetes,” said Steve Hertzler, a study co-author and an assistant professor of nutrition at Ohio State University.

Salacia oblonga is an herb native to regions of India and Sri Lanka. Researchers found that it will bind to intestinal enzymes that convert carbohydrates into glucose. If the herb binds to these enzymes before the enzymes can flip carbs into glucose, then less glucose sugar enters the bloodstream. Thus less insulin is required.

“Lowering blood glucose levels lowers the chance of disease-related complications in people with diabetes,” Hertzler said. “Additionally, poor compliance with diabetes medications often hinders the effectiveness of these drugs. It may be easier to induce somebody to require an herb with food or during a beverage, as opposed to a pill.”

Though this study was performed on healthy adults, the researchers conjointly want to check the effects of the Salacia oblonga herb in diabetic patients.

Hertzler conjointly commented that, “A heap of studies show that lowering blood sugar levels reduces the risk for all Types of Diabetes-related complications, like kidney disease and nerve and eye damage. We tend to wish to determine if this herb has this type of effect.”

The herb caused an intestinal gas side effect. Researchers measured hydrogen and methane levels in the breath of study participants for a two-day amount following each test. Additionally, participants rated the frequency and intensity of any nausea, cramps, or gas they experienced.

The studies can continue, but the herb is tough to request out in the U.S. Some online suppliers do exist.

This study was conducted by Ohio State University (OSU), and supported by the Ross Merchandise Division of Abbott Laboratories in Columbus. It was reported in a very recent issue of the Journal of the Yank Dietetic Association.

A seemingly-obscure herb seems to have the identical medicinal properties as a variety of today’s most-researched diabetes medicines. Just imagine what different home remedy treasures are waiting to be uncovered.

Natural Treatment for Diabetes

Diabetes is one of the most common disorders in which either the pancreas produces insufficient amounts of the hormone insulin or the body cells become resident to the hormone’s effects. Managing diabetes is not very tough if you are quite sincere to your health. Plan your routine and diet and you will wonder how easy it is to tackle diabetes.

There may be itching in the groins and eczema. A serious complication could be gangrene of the skin of the feet, beginning with the toes. A curious phenomenon is that the younger the patient, the more rapid is the course of the disease.

Treatment:

1.    Indian gooseberry, with its high vitamin C content, is measured important in diabetes. A tablespoon of its juice, mixed with a cup of bitter gourd juice, taken daily for two months, will rouse the islets of Langerhans, that is, the remote group of cells that secrete the hormone insulin in the pancreas. This mixture diminishes the blood sugar in diabetes. This is another effective Home Remedy for Diabetes.

2.    Apple cider vinegar has often been labeled the king of remedies and it also works for diabetes. Apple cider vinegar is loaded with numerous essential vitamins and minerals which help regulate blood sugar. Before every large meal you should mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water and drink up.

3.    In one liter of boiling water add 3- tablespoons of cinnamon and simmer it for the duration of twenty minutes in a low flame. Now strain the mixture and drink this at least two times every day.

4.    Take 400 mcg. a day of chromium picolinate makes insulin more efficient helping keep sugar level low. Chromium maintains stable blood sugar levels through proper insulin utilization and can be helpful for people with diabetes and/or hypoglycemia.

5.    The onion has hypoglycemic (i.e. low sugar) properties. In Ayurveda, it has been investigated thoroughly for its rasayana property. Along with these properties, onion is also a mild aphrodisiac and it can promote the strength of the body. With all these properties, onion becomes a very valuable food in the Treatment of Diabetes.

6.    One of the most important things to do when you have diabetes mellitus is stick with a regular eating schedule. This can help reduce the stress on your body and help it regulate as well as anticipate when the sugars will be present.

7.    Diabetics must take physical exercise as that helps to utilize the blood sugar. Walking, preferably jugging is the best exercise I can recommend. Hipbath recommended by kunhe is extremely beneficial in the case of diabetes, particularly for patients suffering from constipation. For a leathery skin most diabetes develops, the best exercise is vigorous rubbing of the skin with a rough towel for fifteen minutes before a bath with cold water.

8.    Take soyabean in your diet. It does not contain sugar and is a good source of energy for diabetes.
